But what exactly are they getting with a man who Louis van Gaal was so willing to pay £25m for?
With Depay widely considered as one of Europe’s top young talents, United have undoubtedly bought someone with potential.

As the youngest player to have scored more than 15 goals in the continent’s top 10 leagues last season, the winger has proved that he has the ability to be a potent threat from the wing, despite his fledgling age.

Manchester United is the world's most valuable football brand, replacing Bayern Munich, according to a report from consultancy Brand Finance. Despite winning no trophies again last season the Old Trafford club's brand is estimated to be worth $1.2bn (£789m). Six of the top 10 most valuable club brands were English. Barcelona, who won the Champions League final on Saturday, slipped two places from last year to sixth most valuable club, worth $773m.
